Invitation to the Parliamentary Field Visit to Jamaica
Dear Member,
On behalf of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF, it is my pleasure to invite you to the
Field Visit to Jamaica,
as part of
the Parliamentarians in the Field Programme,
jointly organized with the
World Bank Group (WBG) and IMF,
from 2 – 6 February 2025.
Since 2001, the Parliamentarians in the Field program has given MPs unique access to World Bank & IMF
country offices, its development programs and key development partners (including the host country’s
parliament). During visits, delegates are briefed by World Bank & IMF country representatives on their in-
country activities. Visiting MPs also meet with host-country parliamentarians to discuss the country’s
development priorities. Participants visit programs and projects while engaging with local staff.
The Parliamentary Network has a longstanding focus on environmental issues. Most recently, it launched a
thematic chapter on climate finance. The field visit to Jamaica will allow visiting MPs to gain a solid
understanding of the country’s development priorities, particularly related to climate, and how
international institutions such as the World Bank and IMF can support climate efforts and other
macroeconomic challenges. MPs will also share knowledge about their own countries’ development
experiences.
If you are interested,
please confirm your participation before Friday 20 December 2024, COB,
by writing
to
[email protected].
Due to space constraints, participants will be selected on first come, first served
basis, taking into account of gender and regional representation.
I look forward to meeting you in Jamaica.
With my very best wishes,
The Rt Hon. Liam Byrne MP, UK
Chair of the Parliamentary Network
on the World Bank and IMF
