Excellency,
Dear Member of Parliament,
On behalf of the Director-General of IRENA, we have the pleasure to invite you to the tenth IRENA
Legislators Forum, scheduled to take place on 11 January 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the
margins of the fifteenth session of the Assembly, to be held in Abu Dhabi, from 11 to 18 January 2025.
The IRENA Legislators Forum gathers a global network of parliamentary champions of renewable energy
with an interest in achieving a low-carbon, climate-resilient world, in line with the Sustainable Development
Goals and the Paris Agreement.
The 2024 edition of the IRENA Legislators Forum will present a unique opportunity for parliamentarians to
engage with experts, share best practices with counterparts and contribute to the global discussion on
accelerating the energy transition at national, regional and international levels.
Marking the 5th World Energy Transition Day, the Assembly session will gather global leaders and energy
decision-makers to chart a strategic way forward across countries, regions and the world, in light of the
findings of the first Global Stocktake at COP 28, the outcomes of COP29 as well as the results of the first
edition of the report “Delivering on the UAE Consensus: Tracking Progress toward tripling renewable energy
capacity and doubling energy efficiency by 2030”, from IRENA, COP29 Presidency, COP28 Presidency,
Government of Brazil and Global Renewable Alliance (GRA).
Given the urgent need for extraordinary levels of political momentum and international cooperation,
several Ministerial and High-level sessions will be convened as part of the Assembly session, as well as
during the Pre-Assembly Day on 11 January 2025, to facilitate interaction between decision-makers on
pressing issues related to the energy transition in the coming decade and beyond, and inform the future
work of the Agency. In line with the inclusive nature of discussions, in addition to the Legislators Forum,
Public-Private Dialogue and Youth Forum will continue to provide opportunities for insights and discussions
with and among actors that are vital to our collective ambition to achieve a just and inclusive future based
on renewables.
The IRENA Secretariat will be pleased to welcome you and a delegation from your parliament. Delegations
should be composed of maximum three parliamentarians, including one young male and one young female
parliamentarian.
Participating legislators are also invited to engage in a Public-Private Dialogue on fostering a conducive
environment for renewables deployment through better alignment between policy-makers, the private
