10th edition of the Future of Biogas Europe Summit,
taking
place on
26th–27th November 2025 in Seville, Spain.
As Europe accelerates its transition towards energy independence and a net-zero future,
biogas is
emerging as a cornerstone of sustainable energy solutions.
Currently supplying
22 bcm of
renewable gas,
the sector has the potential to deliver
101 bcm by 2040,
covering over
80% of
the EU’s projected gas consumption.
This makes biogas a crucial enabler of
grid flexibility and
decarbonisation.
However, unlocking its full potential requires
robust regulatory support,
increased investment, and widespread industrial adoption of renewable gases such as
biomethane.
Despite its vast potential, the biogas industry faces key challenges in 2025, including regulatory
uncertainties, economic viability concerns, public perception issues, and the need for
technological advancements. Securing a sustainable feedstock supply and integrating biogas into
existing infrastructure remain critical hurdles that must be addressed. Overcoming these
challenges will require industry-wide collaboration, innovation, and strong policy advocacy to
