Your Excellency Ms. Lise Bech,
Honourable Member of the Danish Parliament,
Chairman of the the Foreign Affairs Committee.
Dear Madam, I hope this email reaches you in good health.
I am writing to you as a Nordic National of the Bangladeshi background with deep
concerns about the deteriorating political and human rights situation in our motherland.
7th of January was parliament election in Bangladesh. This election was totally false and
fabricated, vote rigged by current illegitimate, undemocratic government and massive
crackdown on opposition parties in Bangladesh.
I have attached an important document, some video clips, pictures and international
newspaper reports, two statement from the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and
US State Department, upon a view of which I am sure you will conceive what is happened
in the election. There will be no reason for you to disagree with me that no democracy, rule
of law and human rights exist in Bangladesh.
I must assert that the country is now one party ruling state. The law enforcement agencies
as the aid of the regime are killing, torturing, kidnapping, harassing and sending to prison
opposition activists every single day. Last one month have been arrested 25 thousand
opposition activists and leaders. Nobody with a dissenting voice is safe on this soil.
Essentially, the current chaotic situation is moving towards a civil war. Denmark have been
largest commitment about human rights and democracy all around the world. So, Denmark
can’t
silence and compromise about human rights and democracy. Denmark is one of the
largest trade and development partner of Bangladesh. So, you have lost of opportunity
help for 180 million people in Bangladesh.
We need your help to restore democracy and rule of law as well as to change the human
rights situation in Bangladesh and take action against the undemocratic government to
Bangladesh.
In the above connection, I humbly request you to schedule an urgent meeting with you
where some important politicians, human rights expertises Bangladeshis are eager to
attend. Among them Mr.
Ismail Jabiullah,
Former State Secretary of Bangladesh and
Adviser to BNP Chairperson and Former Prime Minister of Begüm Khaleda Zia, Ms.
Rumeen Farhana, Former Member of Parliament of Bangladesh, Barrister A Sayem, a
renowned lawyer based in England and F. Adviser to Acting Chairman, Bangladesh
Nationalist Party-BNP, Dr. Mahadi Amin, former Lecturer of Cambridge University and Mr.
Gazi Monir Ahmed, President of the BNP Denmark. We will brief you on the current
situation in Bangladesh and discuss ways to reinstate democracy, rule of law and peace in
the country through free, fair and participatory general elections in Bangladesh.
