Dear Madam Speaker,
Dear Mr. Speaker,
We are pleased to invite your parliament to the Parliamentary Meeting to be held on the occasion of the
10
th
World Water Forum on 19-21 May 2024 in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia. The meeting is being jointly
organized by the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The World Water Forum is the world’s largest event on water, organized every three years. It brings
together the global water community and key decision-makers to promote collective progress on
addressing urgent water issues. This Forum comes at a critical time as the world is facing an imminent
water crisis with billions of people already experiencing water shortages.
The Parliamentary Meeting will form a crucial part of the political process at the 10
th
World Water Forum.
Parliamentarians from around the world will have the opportunity to promote legislation to address water
scarcity, enhance parliamentary cooperation and diplomacy on expanding access to safe water, and
mobilize action on water for global security and prosperity.
While the event is open to all parliamentarians, parliamentarians working directly on water issues,
sustainable development, climate change and health are particularly welcome to attend. We strongly
encourage gender-balanced delegations and the inclusion of young parliamentarians in delegations.
The Host Parliament will cover the registration fees for the World Water Forum for two participants from
unicameral parliaments and four participants from bicameral parliaments (two from each chamber).
Further details on the registration fees for the World Water Forum can be found in the General
Information Note.
Further details, including the registration link, can be found on the IPU website:
https://www.ipu.org/event/parliamentary-meeting-occasion-10th-world-water-forum.
The deadline to
register is 6 May 2024. Additional information regarding logistics and visa requirements can be found in
the General Information Note.
We hope that your parliament will be represented at this important global gathering to address the world’s
water challenges and chart a path for a more sustainable and prosperous future.
Your sincerely,
Martin Chungong
