AI WORKSHOP RUN OF SHOW
Defending Democracy in the Digital Age-Power of
Technology in Driving Equality
Today's era is characterised by the proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), ensuring the
preservation of democracy is of paramount importance. Women in politics encounter
unique challenges in this landscape, particularly with the escalation of online violence and
harassment, disinformation, and deep fakes.
In this regard, Women Political Leaders (WPL) invites you to participate in our upcoming
‘Safeguarding Democracy’
online workshop series with an expert presentation from
Microsoft, which will take place on
June 25th 13:00 CET
and
June 27th at 16:00 CET
(both
sessions will be the same).
Workshop Overview:
The workshop series aims to provide our community with:
A comprehensive overview of technology's opportunities to safeguard democracy,
combat cyber threats, defend against foreign interference, and address the impact of
deep fakes on campaigns and women political leaders.
Practical guidance to address the possible misuse of technology, including online
gender-based violence, disinformation, and deep fakes.
Information on technology tools and resources to fully benefit from the ongoing digital
transformation, with a focus on leveraging AI in political campaigns and work in office.
Workshop Details:
The first workshop in the series,
"Defending Democracy in the Digital Age-Power of
Technology in Driving Equality",
will address the crucial role of technology in safeguarding
democracy and driving equality. Political staffers are also welcome to join us in this insightful
discussion, which will be geared towards political candidates and elected officials.

The workshop aims to delve into the challenges and opportunities presented by AI, as well
as the increasing online threats against women in politics. We seek to explore how training
on the use of AI can promote a safer online environment, and highlight the indispensable
contributions of women in politics to the functionality and inclusivity of democracies.
