The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, A1 Directorate, presents its
compliments to the Royal Danish Embassy in Athens and with reference to the latter’s note
verbale n.52/22 dated September 20th, 2022, has the honor to provide the requested
information concerning the WLB Directive (UM id: 9039815):
A) Instruction EE2019/1158 : valid from 2021 with N.4808/2021 (Official Government
Gazette of the Hellenic Republic 101 A’/19.6.2021)

Paternity leave for 14 working days with earnings (article 50 par. 1 N.3528/07, modified
by article 54 N.4830/2021)
*(a) it is valid for the stepfathers and foster fathers of children up to 8 years old.
B)
Application of the interested party + medical note with a possible due date of the spouse
*(a) it is granted if the inclusion of the child to the family does not surpass a month

Pregnancy (2 months) and maternity (3 months) leave with earnings (article 52
N.3528/07)
After the maternity leave, it can be granted a 9-month leave for raising a child with
earnings, up to the age of 4 (article 53, N.3528/07). The leave is granted to the fathers,
too.

For the pregnancy leave: application + medical note with possible due date
For the maternity leave: application + birth certificate of the child
For the 9-month leave (leave for raising of a child): request + family certificate + affidavit
that the spouse will not make use of this kind of leave
If both parents are employees: they cannot make use of the 9-month leave at the same
