2023 Field Visit to Morocco
Dear Member,
On behalf of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF, it is my pleasure to announce a
Field
Visit to Morocco,
as part of
the Parliamentarians in the Field Programme,
jointly organized with the World
Bank Group (WBG) and IMF,
from 4
8 June 2023.
In the lead-up to the WBG-IMF Annual Meetings to be hosted in Marrakech in October 2023, this field visit
will allow participating MPs to gain a solid understanding of Morocco’s development priorities, exchange
with key stakeholders and actors, and share development experiences. The four-day tour will include
engagements with senior Government officials, Parliamentarians as well as World Bank and IMF
representatives in the capital city of Rabat, in addition to project visits in the historic city of Marrakech. MPs
will learn about the country and the region’s development achievements and challenges,
particularly in the
areas of energy, climate change, gender, and private sector development, and how the WBG and IMF have
been helping to overcome them.
Since 2001, the Parliamentarians in the Field programme has given MPs unique access to WBG and IMF
country
offices, development programmes and key development partners (including the host country’s
parliament). This year’s visit will provide the opportunity to engage with WBG (including IBRD and IFC) and
IMF representatives, the Moroccan Parliament, relevant Ministries, the Central Bank, project beneficiaries,
CSOs, the private sector, and the donor community.
I invite you to express your interest in participating by filling out the following online form:
https://form.jotform.com/PNOWB/morocco-field-visit.
Due to space constraints, this event is open to a
limited number of Members of Parliament, therefore, places will be allocated on a first-come first-served
basis while considering regional and gender balance.

or

I look forward to meeting you in Morocco.
With my very best wishes,
The Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP, UK
Chair of the Parliamentary Network
on the World Bank and IMF
