Statement of the meeting of the Nordic, Baltic and Polish delegations in Vilnius, 10-11
February, 2023
As representatives of our respective countries’ Parliaments we express continuous support for
Ukraine. We are and will stay united and will assist Ukraine in its fight for freedom until the
final victory.
February 24th marks one year of Ukrainian heroism, resilience and sacrifices of the whole
Nation. It is necessary that Russia be held accountable, take responsibility and compensate for
its actions. We emphasize the need to create an international legal mechanism of prosecuting
the crimes of the aggressor.
Russia has isolated itself from the community of nations committed to the principles of
international and humanitarian law by violating it, committing crimes against humanity and
other crimes of shocking and enormous magnitude.
We note with great regret the fact of granting visas to Russian parliamentarians who are
included in the EU sanctions list and allowing them to take part in the Winter Session of the
OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on the very date of the anniversary of Russian open war of
aggression.
Russia’s participation in the OSCE PA meeting in Vienna will without doubt be used for
propaganda purposes at home and abroad and will send a very disappointing message to the
international community. The integrity of the OSCE and its PA will be damaged when the
principles enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act are violated. They must be defended by all means
and on every possible occasion.
