Honourable Speaker Søren Gade,
Women Political Leaders (WPL) is pleased to invite you to the
WPL Democracy, Peace and Security Summit -
Armenia,
co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the Parliament of Armenia and WPL on
19-20
October
in
Yerevan, Armenia.
It is an honour to extend an invitation to you, as President of Parliament, to
set up a delegation of women
Parliamentarians
from your country to participate in this unique convening, which will bring together leading women
politicians from all over the world.
The WPL Summit is the foremost global gathering of women political leaders. Past editions of the Summit have
convened several hundred women politicians from around the world: Parliamentarians, Heads of State and
Government, Cabinet Ministers, and other relevant political leaders to the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium;
Kigali, Rwanda; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Mexico City, Mexico; Amman, Jordan; Reykjavik, Iceland; Vilnius, Lithuania
and virtually in 2021 reaching 33.8 million people on social media. The most recent WPL Summit (in June 2023),
which took place in Brussels, Belgium was co-hosted by the European Parliament and the Belgian Federal Parliament
with an attendance of over 200 women Politicians from 80 countries.
The WPL Summit seeks to address today’s intertwined global challenges, and offers the opportunity to exchange best
practice and knowledge on political decision-making. Discussions are held with the purpose of driving concrete
actions.
At a moment when war rages on multiple parts of the globe, Armenia’s strategically important location at the
crossroads of Europe and Asia make it a natural setting to convene leaders from around the world to promote the
connections between Democracy, Peace and Women’s Leadership.
The two days of keynote speeches and panel discussions will centre around women’s full, equal and meaningful
participation in decision-making and conflict resolution. A first version of the program will be sent to you shortly.
