Subject: EASA inspection of Trafikstyrelsen – occurrences from CPH
Reference: our letter of 19 March 2021 and your letter of 11 March 2021
Dear Jacob,
Following our correspondence in March, I would like to report to you on Trafikstyrelsen’s handling of
the occurrences on FOD (foreign object debris) reported from Copenhagen Airport in 2018-19.
As agreed, EASA covered this issue as a part of the comprehensive standardisation inspection for the
aerodromes domain of Trafikstyrelsen from 27
th
September to 1
st
October. This inspection also
included a visit to Copenhagen Airport.
The FOD occurrences were discussed both with Trafikstyrelsen and Copenhagen airport focussing on
the relevant requirements of the aerodrome regulation (EU) No 139/2014, having in mind the general
process for the handling of and reaction to occurrences and identified safety issues described in
Regulation (EU) 376/2014.
The inspection team did not identify any significant issues regarding the performance of
Trafikstyrelsen and/or the aerodrome operator related to the specific FOD cases at Copenhagen
Airport.
I would like to reiterate that it is the responsibility of the national aviation authority, i.e.
Trafikstyrelsen, to assess the safety content of the occurrence reporting. EASA has no mandate in this
respect.
A full report of the standardisation inspection will be provided to Trafikstyrelsen in due course
according to the timelines foreseen by the Standardisation Regulation (EU) No 628/2013.
Med venlig hilsen
