Current delays in legislative proposals
concerning Agriculture and the
Environment
Dear Commissioners Janusz Wojciechowski and Virginijus Sinkeviôius,
Thank you very much for you efforts with regard to ensuring that we do our
utmost to combat the global crisis of biodiversity loss and climate change. It
is important that we take the necessary steps in order to ensure that we re-
store the ecosystems that are essential to protect the foundation of our lives.
Iherefore, we look forward to the Commission’s proposals on nature restora-
tion, sustainable use of pesticides and the initiatives concerning the Common
Agricultural Policy, including the evaluation of its effects on sustainable land
use and habitats, landscapes and biodiversity.
While we fully acknowledge that, the current spike in food prices due to the
Russian invasion of Ukraine poses a real and urgent challenge to food secu-
rity around the world it should flot delay our long-term efforts combatting bio
diversity loss and climate change.
On behalf a majority of the Committee for Environment and Agriculture of the
Danish Parliament, Folketinget, I would therefore like to encourage you not to
delay action on the important issues that we need to address. Further, I hope
that you are able to provide information on when we can expect the important
proposals concetning binding targets for nature restoration, sustainable use
of pesticides and the initiatives concerning the Com mon Agricultural Policy,
including the evaluation of its effects on sustainable land use and habitats,
landscapes and biodiversity and why they wete postponed?
