Emne: Restrictions for red countries in DK
entry for students and researchers
Dear Mr. Kristensen,
I hope this e-mail finds you well and safe.
I am part of a group of Brazilian students and researchers accepted/hired/enrolled to/in study or
work in Denmark. Still, we cannot enter the country due to the restriction for people coming from
the “red list" category. As you might be aware, studies
are not considered a "worthy purpose" in
this category. Hence we are doing everything within our reach to raise awareness about the
difficulties that this situation represents to us and the continuity of our academic and professional
goals.
Some of us have already been advised that they will lose their scholarships/vacancies if we do not
enter into Denmark before the semester starts in September. In addition, the admissions
processes were very demanding and disputed. Saying that, it’s with great honor
that we have
chosen universities from Copenhagen to Aalborg.
Nearly 60% of our group already has housing in different cities and have paid rent for the first
months. We are looking forward to moving to Denmark due to its excellence in education. Also, we
hold the belief that our entrance into your country would be a great addition to diversity in the
globalized Danish society, economy and academy.
We respect the sovereignty of nations and the independence to rule under their territory, but we
respectfully believe that study is a worthy purpose that could provide entry into Denmark even for
residents of red countries under safety protocols. We are committed to following all necessary
measures, and we are currently writing letters to the Brazilian and Danish governments and
Embassades to expose our situation.
We kindly ask that the Danish Parliament consider the arguments presented in the attached letter
and that the issue be addressed to the competent authorities. We humbly hope that we can count
on your support and intervention to find a bipartisan solution that protects both interested parties.
We thus remain at your disposal for further dialogue.
Thank you so much for your attention. I look forward to hearing back from you.
Kind regards/med venlig hilsen
