Re: Recognition for the new government in Myanmar
Dear Sirs and Madams,
We are people of Myanmar, who live in Denmark and formed a democratic force to restore freedom, justice
and democracy in Myanmar. We would like to request your full assistance and support for our new
"National Unity Government of Myanmar
(NUG)". It is formed and announced by Committee
Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on April 16, 2021.
The
CRPH (Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw)
formed on February 5, 2021 represents 378
elected members of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (Union Assembly) who won Myanmar's November 8, 2020
General Election. CRPH members were elected in a free, fair, and peaceful election, as verified by
international election monitors, and thus represents the will of the people of Myanmar.
Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing staged a coup hours before the scheduled February 1, 2020
Parliamentary session. This illegitimate military coup does not revoke our legitimate authority, as entrusted
to us by the people. The large scale, country-wide civil disobedience movement (CDM) and daily,
nationwide peaceful protests have reinforced the election's legitimacy.
On March 5, 2021, the CRPH announced its four-point political goals: 1) to end military dictatorship; 2) to
gain the release of all illegally detained individuals, including President U Win Myint and State Councilor
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi; 3) to achieve full democracy; and 4) to abolish the 2008 constitution and establish a
federal democratic constitution. Since its formation, the CRPH has appointed acting cabinet ministers to
execute the tasks of government, as necessary. As an acting government, it has taken the responsibility to
fulfill the wishes of the people of Myanmar.
Now, we would like to inform you that, after broad consultations with and support from numerous ethnic
political parties, ethnic armed resistance organizations, and mass protest movements, the CRPH formed a
new National Unity Government of Myanmar (NUG)in accordance with the will and demand of the people.
We do not recognize any institutions, ministries or appointments made by the military which seized power
through an illegitimate coup. As such, all nations, States, and territories with official diplomatic relations
with Myanmar, as well as all international and regional organizations to which Myanmar is a member, are
requested to establish relations and Communications only with the National Unity Government. Therefore,
we urge the international community to stand with the people of Myanmar and, with this letter, seek
recognition from your esteemed Office of our legitimate government of Myanmar.
