Subject: Invitation to the National Parliaments to take part to
the Women’s European
Council initiative -“WOMEN
AT WORK 2030. A roadmap for employment,
skills and
social protection”
Dear President,
The
Women’s European Council
(WEUCO) is a high-level pre-summit ahead of the European
Council, organized since 2018 by the no profit association
European Women Alliance
together
with the Vice Presidents of the European Parliament. Since then, WEUCO has served as a
forum where interinstitutional, transpartisan and transnational dialogue has turned into women
leaders’ commitment and policy proposals to bring gender equality at the top of the European
political agenda.
Over the years, WEUCO has worked on a number of initiatives, centred on the elimination of
the pay gap, increasing the participation of women in the labour market, affirming
women’s
leadership in the European institutions and establishing a specific EU Council of Ministers for
gender equality.
This new edition of WEUCO,
“WOMEN
AT WORK 2030. A roadmap for employment,
skills and social protection”
is a lasting civic process where national Parliaments, EU leaders,
institutions, social partners, civil society and academia will exchange views and put forward
policy proposals in a permanent forum starting on 18th November 2021 to relaunch labour and
social policies with a gender perspective. WEUCO will be the center of a broad European
network able to impact women’s social and economic condition
all over Europe to accelerate
Union’s economic recovery.
The participation of all the national Parliaments is key to enrich
the debate, exchange best practices and steer labour and social policies to shape jointly the
future of the Union
by meeting citizen’s expectations.
We are pleased to invite you and the Honourable Members of your Chamber to
participate to the initiative, as your presence and support is crucial for its success.
This new, enlarged WEUCO, that brings together all the main players at the European level
and can count on the European Women Alliance as the secretariat, will play a strategic role to
steer public policies with a view to increase female employment, improving skills and
strengthening women social protection across the EU. Women at Work 2030 will be structured
in three working groups, focused on the following priorities: employment, skills and social
protection, the three key areas identified by the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan.
WEUCO will have its
first meeting on the 18th November from 14:00 to 16:00
during which
the three working groups will be formed. They will meet three times a year, while the plenary
will hold an annual Conference where a report will be presented, prepared by the EWA
Secretariat on the basis the working
groups’
progress.

We hope you will support our initiative, and count on your cooperation to circulate this
