European Affairs Committee
Lisbon, 18 May 2021
Dear Colleague,
In the context of the parliamentary dimension of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council
of the European Union, the
Assembleia da República
proposes a debate on the relations
between Africa and the European Union, specifically, the influence Parliaments can have in
their deepening.
Therefore, I am pleased to invite you and a delegation of your Parliament, composed of a
maximum of four members, to the
Interparliamentary Conference on the role of
Parliaments in deepening the EU-Africa relationship,
which will take place in the
afternoon of 21 June.
Due to the travel restrictions and social distancing rules imposed by the pandemic situation,
the meeting will take place in a virtual format. As set out in the attached programme,
the EU-
ACP cooperation and the role of Parliaments
will be discussed, as well as
the new EU-Africa
Strategy: the role of national Parliaments.
Please find attached the programme and technical information.
Note that the registration deadline for the event is 15 June 2021.
We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Yours sincerely,
Chair of the European Affairs Committee
