We have the pleasure to invite you to the conference Health impact and social effects of
COVID-19, which will be held in line with the work programme of the Parliamentary
Dimension of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).
We would have liked to welcome you personally in Lisbon, but unfortunately, due to the
current situation of the pandemic, it is still not possible to hold an in-person meeting.
Nevertheless, we are looking forward to your participation in the meeting, set to take place on
Tuesday, 13 April 2021 in the form of a videoconference.
Now, more than ever, it is important for Parliamentarians to contribute through a common
approach to strengthen the role of the EU as a democratic global partner in overcoming the
challenges ahead. I am convinced that your participation in this event will significantly
contribute to the debate, especially in the discussion of ensuring the access to care, reducing
the damage of future pandemics, and tackling common challenges, which are in line with the
priorities of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Please find attached the draft programme of the conference. You will receive additional
technical information, along with other relevant details, in advance of the conference.
Kindly note that the deadline to register for this event is 7 of April 2021. Up to four Members
from each Parliament may be designated as active participants in the conference.
