representatives from Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCM) and
Interagency Coordination Committee (ICC)
- Presentation of the national health architecture: health system
strengthening; maternal, child and adolescent health,
particularly
girls’ health;
immunisation programmes; prevention
of mother to child HIV transmission; and malaria treatment and
prevention programmes. Health security
ebola outbreak in
DRC. Progress since 2000, challenges and opportunities
Meeting with [the Minister of Finance and] Ministry of Finance officials
- Presentation of financial plans to ensure funding for health
Lunch meeting with partner civil society organisations working in
Uganda
- Presentation of the work of the different CSO partners and how
they contribute to
Uganda’s
health system
Meeting with Members of Parliament of Uganda
- Conversation around importance of political will to protect
health investments
Meeting with representatives from WHO, UNICEF, UNAIDS, UNFPA
- Presentation of work and how institutional partners provide
support to the Ugandan health system, specifically on their
work on maternal, child and adolescent health; immunisation;
prevention of mother to child HIV transmission; and malaria
programmes by WHO, UNICEF, UNAIDS, UNFPA

Visit to community health outreach post:
- Attend immunisation outreach session, and learn about
immunisation, disease burden, opportunities and challenges
- Visit community level health clinic to learn about community
maternal, child and adolescent health services
- Engage with community health workers to learn about
prevention of mother to child HIV transmission; and malaria
programmes, preventive and treatment health programmes,
results, challenges and opportunities
- Learn about synergies in immunisation / bednet distribution /
SRHR / family planning / other health interventions contributing
to HSS, the health of women and girls and marginalised groups
in the [TBD District]
Visit to a school to learn about: HPV programme; HIV prevention
programmes; empowerment of young people and prevention of abuse;
[family planning]
Lunch with local health workers, civil society partners and
representatives from the Ministry of Health
Visit to [TBD District] hospital:
- Visit district cold-chain storage facility and medical warehouse
and learn about challenges and opportunities in keeping
vaccines chilled and medication storage and distribution
- Learn about maternal and child health services and health
systems strengthening efforts
- Learn about HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB and efforts to reduce
disease burden

- Learn about the integration of prevention of mother to child HIV
transmission; and malaria programmes at central level
- Witness synergies in immunisation / bednet distribution / SRHR
/ family planning / other health interventions contributing to
HSS, the health of women and girls and marginalised groups
Informal lunch and exchange of impressions, feedback and
recommendations.
Special session on global health security and the ebola outbreak in
DRC and the response in Uganda
