UNITE is an independent, non-profit, global network of 132 members of parliament from 62 countries.
UNITE is committed to ensuring that no life is limited by infectious disease through unified political
advocacy. Created under the auspices of UNAIDS, we call on our global network of parliamentarians to
hold governments accountable and to commit to the use of political levers to improve global health,
acting in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Recognizing the critical role of effective political actions and the need to leverage local and global
political efforts, UNITE Global Summit: Virtual 2020 is a flagship event for networking and capacity
buildi g that will bri g together for the first ti e UNITE’s parlia e taria
e bers a d Regio al
Chairs. The UNITE Global Summit poses as an extraordinary opportunity for the members of the
Parliamentary Network develop the argument for stronger investment in global health as tool to
achieve healthier economies, more prosperous jobs and sustainable financing mechanisms for the
Welfare State. Health &well-being go hand in hand when it comes to policymaking.
The Global Summit: Virtual 2020 aims to commit, inspire, and empower policy makers towards the
achievement of the UN SDGs over the next decade, while building a roadmap on clear policy actions to
eliminate the threat posed by communicable diseases.
COVID-19 is leaving an indelible mark on global
health and, now more than ever, governments must work in solidarity to protect and better the health
of people across the world.
Your role in the Summit will be of absolute importance, to not only contribute your knowledge and
expertise, but to demonstrate commitment towards more political leadership in ensuring happier and
healthier lives and economies.
