THE PARLIAMENTARY NETWORK
On The World Bank & International Monetary Fund
Virtual Parliamentary
meeting on tackling
AGENDA
Extreme poverty is falling around the world, but increasing in countries impacted by FCV, where it is estimated that up to
two-thirds of the world’s extreme poor will live by 2030. The recent health and economic threats posed by COVID-19 only
risk to compound the situation. The World Bank Group is doing more, and doing it differently, expanding its commitments
in fragile and conflict-affected states through long-term, multi-faceted and tailored approaches to meet national and
regional needs. Parliamentarians play an important role in delivering results in these challenging environments. The
virtual meeting on FCV will serve as a platform for dialogue with experts as well as parliamentarians from around the
world on actions parliaments can take to enhance country outcomes in fragile and conflict-affected nations through
targeted legislation, enhanced oversight, and development funding.
