Dear Honorable,
I am pleased to invite you to a
Virtual Parliamentary Meeting on the World Bank Fragility, Conflict and Violence (FCV)
Strategy
on
May 6, 2020 from 16h00
17h30 Central European Time (GMT+2).
The meeting will connect legislators, civil servants and parliamentary staff from across the globe with World Bank Group
senior experts to learn about the newest FCV strategy and work in the Sahel region.
The World Bank Group is scaling up its work in areas where FCV threatens efforts to end extreme poverty, which is falling
around the world, but increasing in countries impacted by FCV. By 2030, it is estimated that up to two-thirds
of the world’s
extreme poor will live in fragile and conflict-affected situations. Parliamentarians play an important role in delivering results
in these challenging environments both in donor and recipient countries.
This virtual meeting will foster a dialogue on how Members of Parliament and their staff from around the world can take
purposeful, coordinated action alongside the World Bank Group as well as humanitarian, peace, security, and private sector
actors to tackle fragility and eradicate conflict for improved country outcomes. Participants can contribute the knowledge
gained to inform targeted legislation, enhanced oversight and development funding.
Kindly confirm your presence by May 3, 2020 by filling out the following
form
(https://form.jotform.com/PNOWB/ParlFCVBriefing).
Details on connecting to the meeting will follow.
I hope that you will be able to join us for this important conversation and remain at your disposal for all further information.
With my best wishes,
Nayé A. Bathily
Head, Global Parliamentary Engagement
