TO SECRETARIES OF DELEGATION FOR DISTRIBUTION TO ALL MEMBERS
Re: Postponement of the Spring Session in Kyiv
Dear members,
We hope this finds you well and healthy.
All our countries are going through particularly challenging times, and these are naturally
impacting the normal course of our Assembly’s business. As you may know, activities originally
planned for the months of March and April have been cancelled or postponed due to the
coronavirus pandemic.
It is very difficult to predict when the pandemic will end or even when confinement measures
and travel restrictions adopted by many of our countries will be lifted. In light of this uncertainty,
we and the Ukrainian delegation feel that it is best to postpone the NATO PA Spring Session
which was due to take place in Kyiv, Ukraine on 22-25 May.
We are currently discussing several options for alternative arrangements, and we hope to be
able to get back to you with more information in the coming weeks. Our aim and hope is to
ensure that the Assembly’s Committees and the Assembly
as a whole can meet in the coming
months, either virtually or in person,
and that the Assembly’s delegations can continue to
exchange with each other on the broad range of challenges currently facing our nations
first
among which the coronavirus crisis
as well as
on NATO’s contribution to addressing these.
Rest assured that we are fully mobilised towards this objective.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the postponement of the Spring Session and
thank you for your understanding.
Please do not hesitate to contact Ruxandra for any questions about alternative arrangements
or
the NATO PA’s
conference service (Helen Cadwallender, Claire Gates and Salima Chebrek)
should you have any questions about the practical arrangements of this postponement.
Delegations should cancel their hotel reservations directly with the hotel.
Best wishes, and stay healthy,
Attila Mesterhazy
