THE SECRETARY GENERAL
LA SECRÉTAIRE GÉNÉRALE
055 CIR 20 E
26 February 2020
TO SECRETARIES OF DELEGATION
Dear colleagues,
In light of the outbreak of the coronavirus, which has now spread to more than 30 countries, I
felt it would be prudent to consult on the possible impact for our Assembly and to ensure that,
collectively, we have precautionary measures in place to support global efforts to prevent the
further spread of the disease.
To this end, we will contact the hosts of upcoming Assembly activities to ensure they have no
concerns about hosting these activities and check whether they would like to pass on any
guidance from their health authorities to participants.
I would also like to encourage all delegations who have not yet done so to seek advice and
guidance from their national authorities regarding foreign travel in light of the coronavirus
outbreak. I would be grateful if you could let us know of any concern you may have in this
regard.
Our international secretariat is following the guidance issued by the World Health Organisation
and Belgian authorities regarding basic hygiene precautions and travel to risk areas
–
both
private and work-related. They are also aware of the steps they should take should there be
any risk or suspicion of infection.
We will continue to monitor the situation and I will be in touch again if need be.
Many thanks in advance for your support and cooperation and, again, please do not hesitate
to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Best wishes,
Ruxandra Popa
