Invitation: Reykjavík Global Forum - Women Leaders 2020 | 9-11 November, Iceland
INVITATION
Dear Heidi Bank,
It is an honour to invite you to join the Reykjavík Global Forum
Women Leaders 2020, taking place
9-11 November in Reykjavík, Iceland.
2020 is a particularly significant year for women’s leadership as it marks the 25th anniversary of the
landmark Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, among other important milestones. Yet, due
to the COVID-19 pandemic, many key gatherings to advance equality between women and men have
been cancelled or postponed.
Although these valuable moments may have been lost, our commitment to achieving their aims is
redoubled. In this new world context, the Reykjavik Global Forum
Women Leaders can play a
valuable role in ensuring that 2020’s major milestones are not forgotten.
Despite these challenging times, the Forum is committed to ensuring that women leaders like
yourself, who meant to meet earlier in 2020 have a platform to still do so during the year’s fourth
quarter in Iceland. We are presently in contact with the hosts of some of the most noteworthy
women conferences which have been impacted by the pandemic, to envisage the Forum
incorporating broader partnerships and a shared agenda. Now more than ever, it is imperative that
the global community of change-makers and influencers across the public and private sectors press
forward in optimism and continue to use their collective power to enact positive actions for the
sustainable advancement of our society.

Hosted in Iceland, the world-champion for equality between women and men for more than a
decade on the WEF’s Global Gender
Gap Report, each year the Forum abounds and reverberates the
influence and worldwide perspectives of today’s most formidable female leaders. At the Reykjavik
Global Forum, one is not an attendee, but an invited leader; someone who can hear what is being
said, can add value to and share the passion for the conversation: a Conversationist.
Launched in November 2018 and co-hosted in partnership with the Government and Parliament of
Iceland, the Reykjavik Global Forum
Women Leaders annually convenes 450+ Conversationists,
including Presidents, Prime Ministers, Parliamentarians, leaders from business, academia, civil
society, arts, media and more from all around the world. Those who have broken the glass ceiling,
experts who lead the way in their respective fields, leaders and visionaries inspired by and inspiring
their peers.
The dates of 9-11 November make us very hopeful that it will be feasible to hold the Forum. Seven
months from now: most reports suggest Covid-19 will be better controlled, a treatment or vaccine
is envisaged for as early as late summer/early autumn, and Iceland with its unique, borderless
geography is well equipped to manage the safe flow of people.
Should you be interested to attend, please confirm your
registration here.
In the spirit of Power, Together, it would be a privilege to have you join us and to play an important
role at this emblematic edition of the Reykjavik Global Forum
Women Leaders.
Yours sincerely,
Silvana Koch-Mehrin
President of Women Political Leaders (WPL)
Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir
