Dear Mr President,
From 25 to 29 November 2019, the government of the Federal Republic of Germany will
host the United Nations XIV. Internet Governance Forum (IGF) under the overarching
theme of One World. One Net. One Vision. Over 3,000 participants from around the
world are expected to attend this event in Berlin.
The IGF steering committee has this year set itself the goal of strengthening the
parliamentary aspect of global intern governance within the framework of the most
important meeting on the future of the internet. The aim is to discuss shared solutions to
urgent digital technology issues, including in particular the significance of
cross-border
data governance, online security
and integration of groups at risk of being marginalised
in the digital world (e-inclusion).
Together with the Chairman of the Bundestag’s Committee on the
Digital Agenda, Mr
Jimmy Schulz, I wish to extend a warm invitation to you and to members of parliament
from your country to actively join the discussion and to take part in the Internet
Governance Forum 2019 in Berlin.
In particular, we would like to draw you attention to the first parliamentary meeting
during the IGF, to which representatives of legislatures from all over the world are
invited. This will be held on
Friday, 29 November 2019
from 10:00 a.m.
1:00 p.m.
at the Estrel Convention Center,
Sonnenallee 225, 12057 Berlin.
We ask you to please forward this invitation to committees and parliamentarians working
on digital and internet policy matters, as we would be delighted to welcome
parliamentary representatives from your country in order to together lay the foundations
