I enclose a letter from Commissioner Jourová addressed to the national political parties,
foundations and campaign organisations in the Member States, bringing to their attention the
Commission’s package of measures for securing free and fair elections adopted last
September, and their role in supporting implementing it.
I would be grateful if the letter and attached Recommendation could be forwarded nationally
to those parties, foundations and campaign organisations as relevant, which have notified their
intention to participate in the elections to the European parliament. We have provided all
language versions.
The Commission will also be reporting on the implementation of the package following the
European elections and the note takes the opportunity to give parties advance notice that they
will be invited to participate in this process by providing response to a post-election
questionnaire. We would be grateful if you could facilitate the distribution of this
questionnaire when the time comes.
A copy of this letter will be transmitted to the national contact points nominated to the
European cooperation network on elections, and to the national parliamentary focal points in
Brussels.
