Dear Madam Speaker,
Dear Mr. Speaker,
It is our honour and pleasure to extend an invitation for members of your Parliament to
attend the upcoming Seminar on Achieving the SDGs. The seminar will be held in
Jerusalem from 20 to 22 November 2018 for parliaments from the
IPU’s
Twelve Plus
Geopolitical Group and East Asia.
This event, which is the first on the subject to be held for members of the
IPU’s
Twelve
Plus Geopolitical Group, is part of the extensive global efforts by the IPU and its
Member Parliaments to promote SDGs implementation.
To that end, the upcoming seminar will focus on SDG9 that focuses on infrastructure,
industrialization and innovation. The event is expected to enable an exchange of ideas
and mutual learning on meeting this goal, with an eye on sharing the experience that
Israel has developed in these fields. The subjects of discussion will include
sustainable technology and policy planning, among others.
We look forward to hosting members of your Parliament at this seminar. Delegations
should be composed of up to four members (parliamentarians and parliamentary staff)
of both genders, who in their professional work are involved in addressing the SDGs
and the issues that fall under SDG9.
The working languages of the seminar will be English, French and Hebrew. We ask
that, as customary, participants make their own arrangements for travel,
accommodations, and visas.
The concept note is attached to this invitation. The organizers will share the draft
programme, information note, and registration and hotel forms in the coming weeks,
as soon as they are available. All seminar documents will be posted on the IPU
website (https://www.ipu.org/events/new-events).
We await your positive response and look forward to welcoming your delegation to
Israel in November.
Yours sincerely,
Yuli Yoel Edelstein
Speaker of the Knesset
