Scientists and doctors call for a moratorium on the rollout of 5G
We are writing to you on behalf of the 200+ signatories to the
5G Appeal,
because of your “Letter
of Intent:
Development of 5G in the Nordic region”
of 23 May 2018, where
you declare your intention that
“the Nordic
countries will be at the forefront of [5G] to become world leaders in using 5G technology”.
However, 5G might have serious negative effects on public health and the environment, which we ask you to
consider.
We would ask you to take note of the contents of the
5G Appeal,
signed by 200 + scientists and medical
doctors, (60+ professors), that recommends a moratorium on 5G
until potential hazards for human health
and the environment have been fully investigated by scientists independent from industry.
It concludes that 5G will substantially increase exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) on
top of the 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, etc. for telecommunications already in place. RF-EMF has been proven to be
harmful for humans and the environment. EMFs of frequencies 30 KHz
–
300 GHz are already classified as
“possibly
carcinogenic
to
humans"
(Group 2B). However, new research indicates that this kind of
radiofrequency radiation should be classified as carcinogenic to humans (Group1).
The appeal also concludes that there are no research showing that 5G is, on the contrary, safe for humans and
the environment.
Professor Emeritus Martin L. Pall compiled the
attachment (90 pages)
to the 5G appeal. It gives an overview of
the manifold of health problems that are produced by EMFs reported by scientific studies.
We expect an answer from you no later than August 15, 2018
Yours sincerely
Rainer Nyberg
