Dr. Saumya Uma works as an Assistant Professor
–
Law and Legal Studies in the School of Law,
Governance and Citizenship at Ambedkar University Delhi. She has previously worked as Assistant
Professor (Law) in Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) Mumbai, and as Assistant Professor in
National Law School of India University (NLSIU)
–
Bangalore, and as Assistant Director of Centre for
Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy at NLSIU.
She has 24 years of combined work experience as an academic, law researcher, lawyer, trainer, writer and
campaigner on gender, law and human rights, and is a recipient of the prestigious British Chevening
scholarship for human rights in 1998. She has previously worked as a consultant to United Nations
Development Fund (UNDP), United Nations Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights
(UNOHCHR) and the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ). She has researched and authored twelve
books, edited / co-edited books by reputed publishers such as the Oxford University Press, and has
written and published more than 50 articles.
