FOLKETING
Dear Colleague,
I would like to inform you that the representatives of the Family, Senior and Social
Policy Committee of the Polish Senate are going to take in September 2018 a study trip to
the Kingdom of Denmark so as to become familiar with the legal and practical aspects of
the ftinctioning of the Danish child support maintenance system.
In 2017, the Cornmittee started working on developing the objectives of a new
maintenance system in Poland. They are aimed at, inter aha, a significant irnprovement in
the collection of maintenance. These objectives to a significant extent refer to the solutions
applicable in Denmark. The Polish system is based on claiming child maintenance in court
and unfortunately is an inefficient system. In tum, the Danish system is hased on
administrative settlements and an important role in it is played by local governments.
Denmark is among the countnes which are most efficient in the collection ofmaintenance.
Appreciating the effectiveness of the Danish solutions, three senators
—
members of our
Committee are going to take a study trip to Denmark in the second half of September 2012.
I will be extrernely grateful for making it possible for the senators to meet with the
representatives of the Comrnittee you chair. I will be honoured if during the stay of the
Polish senators you will find time to meet them so as to discuss the above-mentioned issues
taken during the work of Folketing.
