The 8
th
World Water Forum is the main water event that gathers heads of States and
governments, ministers, parliamentarians, representatives of private companies, non-
governmental organizations, academia, as well as international institutions and the civil
society.
After the first edition in Marrakesh in 1997, the Forum has had new editions every three
years: in the Hague (2003), Mexico City (2006), Istanbul (2009), Marseille (2012), and Deagu
and Gyeongju (South Korea, 2015).
The 8
th
edition of this important event will be held in 2018 in Brasilia, capital of the
Federative Republic of Brazil, with the overarching theme Sharing Water. With near 300
sessions on sustainable water resource management. The event seeks on sharing solutions
and good practices that go beyond the cooperation between countries and institutions.
The Parliamentary Conference of the 8
th
World Water Forum, as part of its Political Process,
will take place for the fourth consecutive time. It aims to bring to light aspects related to
parliamentary water activities, focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in
September 2015, more specifically on SDG 6, related to water.
It will be a great pleasure to have you participate in this Conference, to be held on March 20,
2018, as well as in the entire World Water Forum, from March 18 to 23, 2018.
