5, 6 & 7 OCTOBER 2018
Hosted by City of Aalborg
The 28
th
KIMO International Conference and Annual General Meeting will be held
in Denmark and hosted by KIMO member, City of Aalborg. The Conference this
year will focus on plastic pollution at sea, nature restoration and city waterfront
transformation and its environmental consequences.
The KIMO International Board and National Coordinators meetings will also take
place over the weekend. The programme can be found on the reverse of this flyer.
We are looking forward to seeing you in October in Aalborg, the happiest city in
Europe according to the EU commission.

Visit 1: Aalborg New Harbourfront
Guided tour by ship along the new Harbourfront.
Aalborg’s waterfront has recently undergone a thorough
renovation. It was once Aalborg’s industrial heart, but its
shipyards and heavy industries had mostly died out by
the 1980s. Thus began the waterfront’s transformation into a
cultural and cozy quarter.
Tour guide: Peder Baltzer, City architect, City of Aalborg
Visit 2: Vestre Fjordpark and Egholm
Guided tour by bicycle to Vestre Fjordpark and the ecological
island Egholm.
Vestre Fjordpark is an open-air swimmingpool and activity
center offering outdoor activities such as to sail the Limfjord
by kayak or canoe, windsurf, bathe, or simply enjoy the
lovely nature.
Egholm is the largest ecological island in Denmark providing
100% organic farming.
(In case of bad weather conditions bus transportation will be
provided).

Visit 3: Halkær Ådal
Guided tour by bus at Halkær Ådal.
Halkjær Ådal is a river valley where nature restoration has im-
proved the biodiversity significantly. The nature is protected
by organic farming and living provided by the local residents.
The area is classified as Natura 2000.
