ABOUT THE
SPEAKERS:
Carol Mann (France)
Carol Mann is the director of Women in War think tank. She has been working for over
twenty-three years on issues linked to gender and contemporary warfare. First as a researcher and consultant,
author of numerous articles and books and also as director of a humanitarian agency FemAid based in Paris as
well as an academic NGO Women in War.
Practical experience of difficult countries with a hand-on
approach
to aid (wartime Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Armenia, DR. Congo) serves to reinforce any
kind of theoretical approach, one feeding from the other.
Combatants for Peace( Palestine/Israel)Combatants
for Peace is a group of Palestinians and Israelis who
used to take an active part in the cycle of violence in the region. Now, they work together to create peace on the
basis of non-violence principles. They primarily work at the street level in the two communities where they
encourage people to take joint Israeli-Palestinian action against the violence. They believe that the conflict
cannot be resolved on the basis of military means for both parties. CFP received the Livia Award in 2009.
Dialouge Ambassadors (DK):
A project under the Danish Youth Council, which works to break down
prejudices between Denmark and the Middle East, Christianity and Islam. The project creates intercultural
dialogue from youth to youth and understanding of the current problems and conflicts.
GNWP(US)The Global Network of Women Peacebuilders:
An international coalition of women's groups,
mostly from war-torn countries who fight for women's participation in peacebuilding, peace negotiations and
the prevention of violence and achieve many tangible results for example. in Colombia and South Sudan.
Advocate to comply UN s resolution on women s
participation in peacebuilding. Article 1325.
Mobaderoon,(Syria),
receives a Livia prize for building bridge in a situation of war and for working in non-
violent and brave ways to create human contact and bond. Amidst the tragic civil war the network of
Mobaderoon aims to promote peaceful coexistence through dialogue. Mobaderoon engages thousands of social
activists and drive a network for 52 local, Syrian organizations. Members develop their own activities and
initiatives as for example
Peace Ambassadors, Social Leadership
and
Active Citizens.
The young leaders are
catalysts for change in their local societies. Mobaderoon received the Livia Award in 2014.
Steinar Bryn(NO)
He has been a student, teacher, researcher and acting principal at the Nansen Academy in
Lillehammer, Norway. During the last 20 years he has developed and supported the Nansen dialogue centers in
the Balkans.
Mr. Bryn has extensive experience working as a dialogue facilitator in Balkan, in the Middle East
and between Somalian clans. Steinar Bryn has, together with the Nansen peace and Dialogue center, been
nominated to the Nobel Peace Prize 2009-2016. He received the Livia Award in 2010.

World's Best News is an independent media platform
for constructive journalism and a creative campaign unit for popular education. They communicate progress
and solutions to the world's challenges - primarily focusing on developing countries.
Trampoline House:
Deals with a great polarized area of conflict in Denmark, our relations to refugees and
immigrants, and does do concretely, locally and globally. Works for fellowship and contact with the Danes, and
understanding for each other's values and standards. Trampoline House creates inclusion, counter acts the
escalating dehumanization, All conflicts are solved together; all rules are created by the participants.
William Ongoro (South Sudan) :
William Ongoro has with NPPR (National Platform for Peace and
Reconciliation) been supporting and bringing together civil society organizations, faith-based institutions, and
other peace actors towards deepening engagement with the local communities, building solidarity across the
ethnic divides, influencing policies that advocates the realization of national reconciliation, healing and peace in
South Sudan through non-violent approaches of consolidating constructive dialogue, deep mediation and
negotiations.
