ANNUAL GLOBAL SUMMIT 2017

Dear Parliamentarian,
We are pleased to inform you that
Women Political Leaders Global
Forum (WPL),
the worldwide network of female politicians, will hold its
2017 Annual Global Summit in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 28-30 November.
On this occasion, WPL will convene its communities of
Women in
Parliaments (WIP)
and
Women Government Leaders (WGL).
The Annual Global Summit is held in cooperation with the
Althingi, the
Parliament of Iceland,
and is co-organised with the
Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Iceland.
The Annual Global Summit takes place in
collaboration with the
Council of Women World Leaders (CWWL),
whose Chair, President Dalia Grybauskaite of Lithuania, will convene
CWWL's network of women Prime Ministers and Presidents
.Within
this
context
,the
Global Summit is under the special aegis of Iceland's former
President
,Vigdís
Finnbogadottir
,the
world's first democratically elected
woman president and co-founder of CWWL.

Iceland is the global champion of gender equality and the 2017 Annual
Global Summit
–
titled, "We Can Do It!"
–
will provide a unique opportunity
to showcase the Icelandic way to gender equality, as well as providing a
forum for exchange on political best practices and experiences, leading to
impact on legislation and political agenda-setting. This high-level
conference will bring together female political leaders from all over the
world. Past Global Summits have each attracted several hundred female
Parliamentarians and other senior politicians to Brussels, European
Parliament; Kigali, Rwanda; Addis Ababa, African Union; Mexico City; and
Amman, Jordan.
Kindly note that the
President of your Parliament has been invited to
set up a delegation to attend the Annual Global Summit
2017.
