strengthen global green growth efforts.
Country Focus Sessions
Country Focus Sessions will showcase more than 30 GGGI
projects around the world by welcoming partner countries
to highlight green growth milestones and the strategies and
action plans that made them possible.
Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) Annual
Conference and GGKP Knowledge Partners Workshop
The 4th Green Growth Knowledge
Platform (GGKP) Annual Conference
will highlight the latest research and policy considerations
affecting pro-poor inclusive growth through plenary
sessions, and panel discussions led by noted academics,
practitioners and policymakers. GGKP partners will also
convene the 3rd GGKP Knowledge Partners Workshop to
discuss opportunities for cooperation in green growth
knowledge generation and sharing.
Inclusive Green Growth Partnership (IGGP)
The Inclusive Green Growth Partnership Meeting will bring
together heads of the multilateral development banks
(World Bank, ADB, AfDB, IDB), United Nations regional
commissions (ECA, ECE, ECLAC/CEPAL, ESCAP, ESCWA),
and GGGI to strengthen coordination and cooperation
aimed at increasing green investment flows in developing
and emerging countries.
Launch of the GGGI-NCE Africa Initiative and the Regional
Launch of NCE 2016 Report
Welcoming African ministers attending GGGW2016, the
GGGI-New Climate Economy (NCE) Initiative will work to
support African policymakers navigate the nexus between
economic development and climate change.
Club de Madrid (CdM)
The Club de Madrid (CdM) will gather policymakers,
academics, private sector representatives and CdM
Members for the Democracy in a Sustainable Future
workshop that will examine democratic practices
offering new opportunities for climate change mitigation
and management of natural resources, and generate
recommendations on environmental democratic governance.
Green Growth Fair and Technology Exhibit
The Green Growth Fair and Technology Exhibit will
facilitate interaction between private and public sector
representatives during the entirety of GGGW2016 to
explore green growth opportunities and partnerships that
leverage respective capacities, resources, and innovations.
Site Visits
Site visits organized by the Jeju Self-Governing Province to
showcase the island’s renewable energy and related green
growth projects.
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI)
will organize the Global Green Growth Week
(GGGW2016), on September 5-9, on Jeju
Island, Republic of Korea. GGGW2016 will
serve to identify practical, innovative solutions
to sustainability challenges and strengthen
partnerships that deliver growth that is
pro-poor, inclusive, and environmentally
sustainable.
GGGW2016 will highlight four thematic priorities
of energy, water, land-use and green cities that are
central to achieving strong, inclusive, and sustainable
economic growth.
GGGW2016 will engage high-level officials from
government, multilateral development banks and
international development agencies, private-sector
leaders, and representatives from academia and non-
governmental organizations.
Global Green Growth Summit (GGGS)
The Global Green Growth Summit (GGGS) will address
barriers to green growth investments in an effort to increase
the flow of financing by examining international financing
instruments and assess progress on national financing
vehicles that catalyze green growth technology and
infrastructure.
Asia Regional Policy Dialogue
Asian Regional Policy Dialogue (ARPD) gathers ministers,
experts, and private sector leaders to discuss policy and
financing options that address the challenge of transitioning
away from inexpensive coal in favor of clean renewables. It
is designed to be a solution-oriented dialogue that offers
cutting-edge analysis, partnerships, innovative financing, and
private sector initiatives that can help countries make green
growth a reality. The ARPD will provide an opportunity to
shape green energy policy in Asia.
GGGI Council and Assembly Sessions
The Fifth Session of the Assembly and Ninth Session of the
Council will convene ministers and senior officials from
GGGI Member countries to guide GGGI’s thematic priorities
(water, energy, green cities, and land use), green investment
services, and partnerships, as well as to approve GGGI’s
Work Program and Budget for 2017-2018.
