Ven. Geshe Rongpo Lobsang Nyandak
Born at Chenza in Dhomay (Amdo) in Northeast Tibet in 1970. After getting his primary
education, he joined the Rebgong Rongpo Monastery and studied there for 17 years and obtained
the Geshe degree (equivalent to a Ph.D. degree). After his studies, in 1990, he taught Buddhist
texts and philosophy to various high lamas of different schools of Buddhism, to the new monks of
his monastery and to the teachers and students of nearby schools in his area. In 1989, he voiced
against the repressive nature of the Chinese authorities towards Tibetans and later he was strictly
interrogated. But he kept on working for the cause of Tibet. From 1992 to 1997, he met with some
Chinese authorities, Chinese people who have religious faith, Chinese politicians and the Tibetan
historian Bawa Phuntsok Wangyal.
Nyandak then came into exile in the year 2000. With the direction and advise of His Holiness the
Dalai Lama, he has been and still is working on the compilation and editing of His Holiness the
Dalai Lama's religious texts, speeches and statements. Till now he has written and published 22
books. Besides that he takes classes to various Tibetan schools and institutions like Sara College
for Higher Tibetan Studies, Norbulingka Institute, Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute on
Tibetan language, Buddhism and philosophy. He obtained the Geshe degree in both Buddhist
Tantra and Sutra with the highest marks.
He was first directly nominated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama with other two members in the
13th ATPD and got re-elected to the 15th TPiE, presently as a member of the Standing Committee
of the 15th TPiE.
2. Mr. Serta Tsultrim
Mr. Serta Tsultrim Toktsa-Tsang is a current member of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile located
in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. He has served as a member of the Tibetan parliament for ten
years. He was elected to both the 14th and 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
He is the founder and Executive Director of Khawa Karpo Tibet Culture Centre in Dharamsala.
He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Tibetan language newspaper Bod-Kyi-Bangchen published by
the centre.
He had earlier worked in the Religious Department of the Central Tibetan Administration in
1999 and from 2000 to early 2003.
He also worked at the Norbulingka Institute as editor and researcher on Tibetan culture and
education in the institute's Cultural and Literary Research Centre.
Mr. Serta Tsultrim is also a prolific writer and has written several articles, poetry, research work
and even published many books.
He has also worked as coordinator of the Association of Tibetan Journalists (ATJ).
