Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs,
It is our pleasure to inform you that the
Women in Parliaments Global Forum (WIP),
a global network of female
Parliamentarians, in cooperation with the
House of Representatives of Jordan
will host the
WIP Global Summit under the
Dome of Jordan’s Parliament on 4-5 May 2016.
This Summit will be first of its kind to be held in a Middle East North African
(MENA) country bringing together female Parliamentarians from all over the world and
co-organised with the Organisation
for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The convening of the WIP Global Summit in Jordan comes in light of the progress made by women over the last several years,
across the MENA region, to increase their participation in political decision-making. It presents a unique opportunity for
participants to discuss the most pressing issues on the global agenda and engage in dialogue about the role and importance
of female decision-makers in today's world.
In this context, it is an honor for WIP, the OECD, and Jordan's House of Representatives to extend an invitation to you to
set
up a delegation of female Parliamentarians from your country
to participate in this highly important event. The conference
is further enhanced by collaboration with the
Jordanian National Council for Women (JNCW)
and
The Council of Women
World Leaders (CWWL).
It’s a pleasure for WIP to collaborate with CWWL, the network of female Presidents and Prime
Ministers, for the first time and involve high-level speakers at this distinguished summit, who will have the chance to
participate in breakout sessions and interactive panel discussions.
We hope that you will accept our invitation and look forward to welcoming your country’s delegation in Amman.
Yours sincerely,
Silvana Koch-Mehrin
