Brief Organisation Strategy Note for
Denmark’s engagement with
International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF)
2015-2019
The work of IPPF
IPPF is an international non-governmental
organisation that works to improve sexual
and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)
for all, with a special focus on poor, under-
served and vulnerable populations. Initially
established in 1952 by family planning
services from eight countries, IPPF has
grown into the world’s largest non-
governmental provider of family planning
services, with the Federation consisting of
147 nationally owned and managed
Member Associations (MAs) giving it a
presence in some 170 countries worldwide.
Denmark supports IPPF because
IPPF’s commitment to promoting
SRHR as human rights and its youth-
centred approach.
IPPF’s commitment to serving those
most in need of SRH information and
services.
Key challenges for IPPF
Persistent opposition to SRHR at global
and national levels.
Reliance on a few, government donors
allocating funding on an annual basis.
Denmark will expect IPPF to
Promote SRHR globally and at national
levels with particular focus on the most
vulnerable population groups.
Play a key role in advancing SRHR for
youth.
Denmark will follow-up through
Participation in annual IPPF donor
consultations and in Donor Advisory
Group once established.
