GLOBAL PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE
CONFÉRENCE PARLEMENTAIRE GLOBALE

It is my honor and pleasure to extend to you an invitation for the Global Parliamentary Conference
2016, which will take place on
10-12 April 2016 in Washington DC,
in the World Bank Group and
International Monetary Fund headquarters.
The Global Parliamentary Conference is the Parliamentary Network’s flagship event, co-organized
by the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank & IMF, the World Bank Group, and the IMF. It
brings together some 200 Parliamentarians from World Bank and IMF member countries, partner
parliamentary organizations, in addition to top officials from the World Bank and the IMF.
Participants have the occasion to hear about the most recent work of these organizations and
discuss pressing issues in international development.

The agenda – which runs over three days – features sessions on the following themes:
Tackling inequality through growth and job promotion;
Climate change;

Transparency and governance; and
The implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The goal of the conference is to (i) increase Parliamentarians’ knowledge of these subject matters,
ii) push for legislations and reforms in key areas; (iii) underline Parliamentarians’ roles in tackling
development challenges in their respective countries; and (iv) look at how international
development partners such as the World Bank Group and IMF can support them in this task.
Kindly note that accommodation and travel is the responsibility of the participant.
The official
languages of the conference will be English and French.
We look forward to welcoming you in Washington DC on 10-12 April 2016 and to fruitful
discussions together.
