Save the Date: Australia Update Seminar at DI: 28 January 2016 [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
UNCLASSIFIED
Dear Mr Prehn
On behalf of Ambassador Damien Miller, I am writing to invite you, or another Committee member, to
attend our annual
Australia Update
seminar on 28 January 2016. A copy of the announcement with
registration details is attached.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Christopher Pyne
announced the Australian Government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda (NISA) on 7 December.
The NISA is an important step towards a more innovative and entrepreneurial Australian economy. It
contains Initiatives, totalling AUD $1.1 billion over four years, which include:
Creating a culture of investment through enhanced business and individual tax incentives;
providing co-investment capital funding to help good ideas get off the ground;
sharper incentives for industry-research collaboration, including international collaboration; and
building Australia’s skills and talent through education initiatives, including for women and girls, and
immigration arrangements.
Finally NISA includes two key measures on international engagement: facilitation of the entry of highly
talented entrepreneurs and highly educated
individuals; and establishment of a Global Innovation Strategy.
We hope you will attend the seminar to learn more about Australia’s new Innovation and Science agenda
and what it might mean for Danish business, Industry sectors and those working in the innovation and
science sector, and to hear from Danish companies with recent success in Australia.
Kind regards
Tania
