Dear Transport and Building Committee
The Jutland Corridor is one of the most vital transport corridors in Europe
from a German and Scandinavian perspective. Thousands of tonnes of goods
are transported between our nations and further on to Europe and worldwide.
The transport infrastructure in the Corridor creates a high level of cross-border
mobility for citizens and businesses. Infrastructure is thus central for economic
growth and prosperity in Scandinavia and Germany. It is therefore important
that we continue to develop and modernise the transport infrastructure in the
Corridor in order to create the best possible conditions for accessibility, con-
nectivity and to attract investments.
We believe that the planning of the development must be carried out in cooper-
ation with representatives from the business sector. There is strong demand
from the business sector to strengthen the cross-border mobility in the Corri-
dor as well as overcoming current bottlenecks.
In cooperation with the Confederation of Danish Industry and IHK Flensburg
we would therefore like to invite you to participate in a summit focusing on the
enhancement of the Jutland Corridor in Sønderborg, Denmark on Monday 23
rd
May 2016 from 13.00-16.00. The summit will be held at Hotel Comwell,
Strandvej 1, 6400 Sønderborg.
In the autumn of 2015 the Danish-German Transport Commission published a
report on the transport infrastructure in the Jutland Corridor. At the summit
we will elaborate on the report as well as engage in a discussion about the chal-
lenges and future needs for development of the Corridor.
If you are able to participate, we would kindly ask you to respond to this email
no later than Monday 11
th
April.
Yours sincerely,
Hans Chr. Schmidt and Reinhard Meyer
