Parliamentary Resolution 11/2016 (VI. 17.)
on the requirements for the European Union's trade and investment agreements with third
countries
*
1.
The National Assembly calls on the Government to firmly and consistently represent the view
in decision-making and preparation for decision-making activities with the national
governmental participation of the institutions of the European Union in order that the
Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the European Union and
Canada, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) to be established
between the European Union and the United States, and the Trade in Services Agreement
(TISA) to be established within the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO)
classify as mixed international agreements. For their creation, it is required to have in each
member state a ratification process that is in accordance with their respective constitutional
rules and that the conventions cannot enter into force temporarily as long as EU Member
States do not ratify them.
The National Assembly calls on the Government not to support the creation of a free trade
agreement that threatens the current level of environmental and health protection, food
safety, human rights and labour law guarantees, and that contains anti-democratic dispute
settlement procedures.
This resolution shall enter into force on the day following its publication.
