Dear Dimitris Avramopoulos,
As a follow up to the letter of 20 January 2016 from Prime Minister Lars
Løkke Rasmussen, I hereby on behalf of the Danish government request the
opening of negotiations on an international agreement between Denmark
and the European Union on the closest possible association of Denmark to
the Europol Regulation.
Furthermore, I should like to request the opening of negotiations on an in-
ternational agreement between Denmark and the European Union on Danish
association to the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council
of 27 April 2016 on the use of passenger name record (PNR) data for the
prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of terrorist offences and
serious crime.
Finally, may I kindly inform you that the Danish government will request
association on an intergovernmental level to the Eurojust Regulation upon
its formal adoption.
I shall be at your disposal with a view to discussing the matter further when
the European Commission has had the opportunity to assess the request from
the Danish government.
