Dear Commissioner,
The European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament is closely following
the negotiations on a new settlement for the United Kingdom in the European
Union.
The following two questions particularly occupy members of the committee:
What factors and circumstances qualify particularly the United Kingdom to be
allowed to make use of the safeguard mechanism intended to exclude EU mi-
grant workers from claiming certain in-work benefits, and what defines “the
exceptional situation” that the proposed safeguard mechanism is intended to
cover?
I hope the Commission will be able to respond to this inquiry as soon as pos-
sible.
