EUFORES has the honour to invite you to its annual Inter-Parliamentary Meeting on Renewable
Energy and Energy Efficiency, which will take place on
7 & 8 October 2016
in the
Parliament
of
Denmark,
Copenhagen.

The EU Energy Union implies huge potentials in terms of energy security - both when it comes
to
internal
and
external
security.
Internally, clear targets on RES & EE and a revitalised internal energy market with sufficient
infrastructure and regulation will offer clean, safe and cheap energy for European business and
citizens.
Externally, the energy union could develop into one of the strongest tools for European foreign
policy, both when it comes to implement COP 21 and when it comes to use the energy policy
both
as
a
stick
and
as
a
carrot
in
bilateral
relations.
Thus, EUFORES wants to take the debate of the security potentials in the Energy Union to a
new
stage.

2016 and 2017 will be most intense years of European policy making when it comes to
renewable energy and energy efficiency legislation. The EU Energy Union is at the core of this
legislative endeavour. Members of parliament will play a key role in defining and implementing
this new package of legislations.
EUFORES gathers with its 16th Inter-Parliamentary Meeting Members of Parliament from the
whole EU - from the European, national and regional level - to discuss and further develop these
legislative projects.
Core topics of the parliamentary meeting will therefore be:
EU Energy Union
International security and the role of the Energy Union
The new Renewable Energy Directive
The new power market design
The review of energy efficiency related Directives (Energy Efficiency Directive,
Labelling Directive, Energy Performance of Buildings Directive etc.)
The Northern Seas: The power house of Europe
The role of Renewables for Heating and Cooling
Renewables and efficiency in the transport sector
Energy efficiency and renewables in the hands of the citizens

High level speakers will discuss with members of parliament from all over Europe during this
two day conference.
We invite you to register now and to represent your Parliament at this gathering. Please register
via
the
official
IPM16
website
and
the
online
registration
form.
Registration
is
open
now.
Participation
is
strictly
upon
invitation
only.
In addition, we kindly ask you - as Representative of your Parliament - to initiate an official
delegation
of
your
Parliament.

Programme, registration and accommodation suggestions and other
practical information are available on the
EUFORES IPM16
conference website.
IPM16 will be held in English. Interpretation can be requested for
parliamentary delegations of at least 5 delegates.
If you would like to attend the IPM16, we recommend to already
reserve/book a hotel as many people will be travelling to Copenhagen
due to parallel conferences on the days of the IPM16.
Accomodation
As Copenhagen does not offer enough accommodation option for the time of the IPM, we
chose two hotels in Malmö (SE), which offer sufficient capacities. Malmö is directly connected
to Copenhagen via the Öresundbridge, which can be pasted in less than 50 minutes. In case

Background
EUFORES aims at
gathering the 100 most active parliamentarians
in the field of renewable
energy and energy efficiency. The event will be the perfect opportunity to exchange knowledge
and to engage in discussions with like-minded colleagues from other Member States and the
European Parliament, officials of national governments, the European Commission and
selected representatives from industry and the scientific sector. The one-and-a-half-day
conference will be accompanied by a Gala Dinner on Friday and a side visit programme on
Saturday.
