Inquiry regarding the European Commission’s legislative framework to
include agriculture in the emission reduction targets
Dear Commissioners,
The European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament is highly interested
in the linkage between the agricultural sector and the ambition to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions, as set out in the Paris climate agreement and the
EU’s post-2020 emission targets.
In this regard, the Committee would like to make the following inquiry:
”What is the amount of greenhouse gas emissions per unit in each of the 28
EU Member States caused by the production of pork, milk and beef, and what
is the amount of emissions for these products per inhabitant? The question
refers to the greenhouse gas emissions which are registered by each country
in accordance with the reporting guidelines of the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)”.
On behalf of the Danish European Affairs Committee, I hope the Commission
will be able to respond to this inquiry as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
Ref. 16-000478-4
