The Catalan National Assembly (ANC) is a popular, unified, plural and democratic organisation working
towards Catalonia becoming a new European State.
The ANC was officially established in March 2012, although it originated at the National Conference For Our
Own State held a year earlier (April 2011). It is not a party and does not wish to become one. It is an
association of citizens who participate freely as individuals, and who vote at elections for differen t options.
What unites all of its members is the conviction that Catalonia has a right to its own voice in the world. That
is, to become a democratic state, just like any other.
The Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia (DIPLOCAT) is a public-private partnership designed to foster
dialogue and build relationships between the citizens of Catalonia and the rest of the world.
DIPLOCAT seeks to contribute to discussions about the main global challenges by promoting the activ e
involvement of Catalan society in the mutual exchange of ideas and best practices in key sectors like
government, business, culture, and education, in order to promote a fairer, more peaceful, democratic and
sustainable world.
The Council engages in public diplomacy with national and international audiences digitally and in person to
create exchanges about Catalan issues as well as world affairs, organizing working visits, academic events,
facilitating business networking, and by building capacity in inte rnational relations.
