Request for Support - UK All Party Parliamentary Group on Global TB

Dear Ambassador
I am writing on behalf of the Rt Hon Nick Herbert MP to request the assistance of you and your team at the
Danish Embassy.
Mr Herbert is the co-chairman, along with Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, the Minister of Health for South Africa, of
a new global network of parliamentarians called the Global TB Caucus. The Caucus is working to raise
awareness of tuberculosis (TB) which, unacceptably, still claims 1.5 million lives every year and has recently
been estimated to be the deadliest infectious disease in the world.
At the inaugural meeting in Barcelona last October, the founding members of the Caucus launched a
document called the Barcelona Declaration. The members of the Caucus hope that their parliamentarian
colleagues around the world will recognise the urgency of the TB epidemic and add their names in support
of the Declaration and its vision of a world without disease.
Accordingly, I am contacting you on behalf of Mr Herbert to ask if you would be willing to reach out to
parliamentarians and political representatives in Denmark and secure their support for this important
global initiative. As you may be aware, the European region is the heart of the global drug-resistant TB
epidemic so it is particularly important to us that the Declaration gains support from parliamentarians of all
European nations.
I have attached a version of the Declaration in English and there is more information on the Caucus on the
group’s website:

their support through the dedicated page on the website or email me directly if that would be preferable.
