Dear Member of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network,
I would like to update you on the OECD’s activities with parliamentarians:
Upcoming OECD Global Parliamentary Network events
The OECD would like to invite you to the
3
rd
OECD Parliamentary Days
which will take place at the OECD Conference
Centre in Paris on 25-27 February 2015. This will include a
meeting of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network
on
25-26 February, held jointly with the
NATO Parliamentary Assembly annual meeting at the OECD;
and bilateral
meetings between OECD experts and parliamentary delegations on 27 February. This meeting will offer an opportunity
for Members of Parliament and OECD experts to engage in dialogue on a range of key topics. The following sessions
are currently foreseen: the global economic, social and financial situation; rethinking development finance; the World
Energy Outlook; international tax reform; building the low carbon economy; fighting foreign bribery; measuring the digital
economy; the OECD Migration Outlook;
and women’s leadership in public life. Please find attached an initial draft
programme which will be posted and regularly updated on
www.oecd.org/parliamentarians.
As always, the seminar is open to Members of Parliament and parliamentary staffers from OECD and partner countries.

Recent events of the OECD Parliamentary Network

As you may know, the last
meeting of the Global Parliamentary Network
was held in Paris on 2 October. 49
Members of Parliament and 16 staffers from 18 countries attended the meeting: OECD member countries
Belgium, Chile, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Poland, Slovak Republic,
Slovenia, Spain and Sweden; OECD candidate country Latvia and non-member countries Argentina and Costa
Rica. It featured analysis on the global economic landscape, Education at a Glance, the OECD Employment
Outlook, a G20 up-date and briefing and the 2
nd
meeting of the OECD Parliamentary Group on Tax. A

The OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría spoke at the enlarged
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of
Europe in Strasbourg
on 1 October as part of the annual debate on the activities of the OECD. His speech is

page.
On 24 November, Deputy Secretary-General Mari Kiviniemi addressed the
NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

Members of Parliament participated in the
OECD Forum on Financing Democracy and Averting Policy
Capture
held in Paris on 3-4 December. This meeting addressed questions such as the risks associated with
the funding of political parties and electoral campaigns, why existing regulatory models are still insufficient to
tackle those risks, and the links between money in politics and broader frameworks for integrity in the public
sector.
