Fundamental Rights Conference
10-11 November 2014
This year, FRA’s annual flagship Fundamental Rights Conference will focus on
migration and the importance of a fundamental rights-based approach to EU policy
in this field.
The conference will be hosted by FRA in cooperation with the Italian
Presidency of the Council of the EU and will take place on 10-11 November 2014 in
Rome.
Over 250 migration experts from across the European Union will discuss how to ensure
that migration and inclusion policies are based on a shared understanding of fundamental
rights, thereby promoting solidarity, social cohesion and the development of inclusive
societies free of racial discrimination. The wide-ranging debates will cover numerous
issues, including the recent humanitarian emergencies at the EU’s external borders and the
resulting need for a more comprehensive and coordinated European response to migration
that is based on a fundamental-rights oriented system, helping to prevent unnecessary
deaths and curb trafficking. The opportunity to exchange information and share good
practices at the operational level will also form an important part of the conference.
The conference will start with a high-level opening hosted at the Italian Chamber of
Deputies. The following day, the conference will continue at the Interior Ministry School
of Administration.
More information on the programme will follow after the summer period.
